Indian cuisine

Indian cuisine reached Santiago over the last two decades through a small community and cooks who opened few but very well-established places in Bellavista, Lastarria and Providencia. Before that, the spices of the subcontinent entered the city almost only through British cooking and the community's own shops.

Northern curries, tandoori, biryani, freshly made breads and a vegetarian offer with no rival on the city's international circuit. They are long-menu restaurants, meant for sharing several dishes at the center of the table, that in Santiago have won a loyal clientele well beyond the community.
